Purpose:
To ensure that the visiting bags kept by the practice contain appropriate equipment, that that equipment is properly maintained and that any medication carried is appropriate and in date.

Each visiting bag shall be set up as a patient in the Practice Management System.
Every month, the nursing staff shall obtain the visiting bags for the practice and check that their contents comply with the Visiting Bag Content and Medication Checklist.
A clear record shall be made in the clinical notes for each bag documenting the check and any changes made or required.
